Readers' Advisory and Programming

Peace Library System libraries have 2 tools available to them to create their own reading recommendation graphics, lists, and displays:

  • LibraryAware - LibraryAware continuously releases reading recommendation graphics based on pop culture and the time of the year that you can take as they are or change to better target your patrons.
  • NoveList - NoveList creates read-alike lists for popular series, as well as title read alikes, author read alikes, and series read alikes for each title you look up, and allows you to search for books based on what appeals to patrons.

There are also a lot of blogs, publications, and social media accounts sharing recommendations that can give you some ideas. This is a great way to promote your in-house collection, offer reading recommendations to those who cannot get into your library for whatever reason, and give your patrons some reading options while they wait for highly demanded titles.

Programming Ideas

The following includes links to already-existing pages on the web with ideas and instructions for programs for patrons of all ages and demographics. We hope these will help you get fresh ideas for programs and to adapt and build upon the other great work libraries are already doing!
