Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies  -- AAISA supports Alberta’s newcomer settlement sector by conducting research, providing training and tools and communicating with stakeholders.

Attracting and Retaining Immigrants -- A tool box for communities wishing to attract and retain newcomers with ideas, resources and best practices from across the country to stimulate discussion, inspiration and insight.

Be Safe at Work (Easy Reading) -- Provides easy-to-read information about how to stay healthy and safe on the job.

Break the Wall: Improve Your English – A page from the government of Alberta with resources to help newcomers improve their English and learn about life in Alberta.

Building Champions of Anti-Racism and Anti-Islamophobia: A Practice Guide for Alberta’s Settlement Community -– A practical manual of principles, tools, resources and case examples that can help professionals, organizations, government, or communities address racism and Islamophobia at an individual, community, or systems level.

CMAS -- An organisation supporting the care and settlement of young immigrant children.

Foreign Qualification Recognition -- FQR promotes fair and accurate recognition of qualifications and skills of immigrants by regulatory organizations and employers.  

Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers -- Services offered include help with daily life; find or become a mentor to a newcomer; services for refugees; services for women; services for seniors; services for youth.

Immigration Help Centre -- Contact information for those who have questions about immigrating and working in Alberta.

IQAS Assessment -- An Alberta government service that performs assessments and issues certificates that compare educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.

Language Training -- Information and programs for English as Second Language (ESL) training in Alberta.

Live Permanently -- Information on the various programs available for those looking to make Alberta their permanent home.

New Immigrants – Information on accessing free newcomer services and settlement professionals from the government of Canada.

Refugee Alberta -- A provincial hub of information for refugees, immigrant-serving organizations and the community at large.

Welcome to Canada -- A publication helping newcomers know  what to expect in their first few weeks of coming to Canada.

Working in Alberta: A Guide for Internationally Trained and Educated Immigrants -- A guide to help newcomers research their occupation in Alberta, look at other work alternatives, and become familiar with the Alberta workplace.

ELL Learning

Our libraries have access to two language learning platforms: Pronunciator and Transparent Language Online. These are language learning systems that patrons can use on the computer and work through at their own pace. 

There are both foreign language and English Language Learning courses available through both platforms.
