The Library Effect - Storytelling Contest 

Join us in celebrating Canadian Library Month by participating in The Library Effect storytelling contest! Libraries have a profound impact on lives, and we want to hear how they’ve changed yours. Whether it’s a passion discovered, a challenge overcome, or a community found, your story can inspire others.

Share how the library has impacted your life or community for a chance to win one of seven $500 VISA gift cards! Enter through the Online Storytelling Portal or pick up a worksheet at your local library!

Participants may submit multiple formats. 

Important Information

  • Stories must be true accounts, not works of fiction.
  • Entries will be reviewed by a panel of HQ staff.
  • Winners will be announced on November 15, 2024, and contacted by their local library.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the most engaging stories that align with the judging criteria. Review Judging Criteria here. 

When submitting your story, you'll be asked to give consent for the Library and PLS to share your story. There is an option to submit anonymously. This gives us permission to share your story but not reveal your identity View consent details here.

How to Enter 
Use a print form, enter online, text the contest phone number, or message us on Facebook. 

1. Written Submissions - pick up a storytelling worksheet or activity guide at your local library. Or download one below. Completed forms can be returned to library staff.

Children's Activity Guide - short questions and scavenger hunt 

2. Art Submissions - Submit art in person to your local library, or upload a picture in the Online Storytelling Portal. Please attach a description of the experience your art depicts. 

3. Virtual submissions - submit your story through our Online Storytelling Portal

4. Facebook Messenger - Enter your contact details into the Online Storytelling Portal then message us on Facebook Messenger @PeaceLibrarySystem.

3. SMS Text Submissions - Enter your contact details into Online Storytelling Portal to get the phone number.
