Summer Reading Programs Kick Off!

Jun. 16, 2020 PLS Staff

Libraries across the province have been invited to participate in two programs: the Alberta Summer Reading Club (ABSRC) and the TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC). Both programs will be delivered entirely online this year.

First, many public libraries in the Peace region have already signed up to participate in the TDSRC. Kids will be able to register themselves for the TDSRC starting this Sunday, June 14 on the program's website. The site allows kids to track their reading, participate in fun online activities, and more.

We're also very pleased to announce the launch of the Alberta Summer Reading Club! The ABSRC is the result of a collaboration between Alberta's regional library systems and features content from libraries all over the province. On the ABSRC website, you'll find materials for both library staff and participants, with programs that can easily be replicated at home.

Even more exciting? Every week, ABSRC will be sharing exclusive new content provided by great Alberta authors, performers, athletes, and more. We have storytimes, magic shows, even sports demos! This content will be available on the ABSRC YouTube channel as well as on the main website. We encourage you to share these widely on your social media pages throughout the summer. We can't name our celebrities yet, but rest assured that kids will be stampeding to YouTube every week!

If you'd like further details, Yellowhead Regional Library ran together a fantastic webinar covering both ABSRC and the TDSRC.
