"Last Chapter" Book Sale Raises Over $10,000 for the Slave Lake Library! (posted May 11)

Peace Library System is pleased to announce that the "Last Chapter" Book Sale, held May 4 - 6 in Grande Prairie, raised over $10,000 for the Slave Lake Library. The proceeds will be used to purchase books and other materials for the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library’s collection. More eBooks Now Available with Freading! (posted May 3)

Effective May 1st, The Alberta Library (TAL) has licensed Freading, an eBook provider, for TAL member public libraries. The easy-to-access collection currently includes over 15,000 titles from all genres, with new titles added regularly. This is a one year pilot project funded by APLEN via Alberta Municipal Affairs Public Library Services Branch (PLSB) and is meant to supplement existing library eBook collections. Freading offers simultaneous access to all titles, so any number of people can download the same book at the same time. Freading also provides mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

Promotional materials are being sent to headquarters to be distributed to member libraries. In the meantime, you can print off this customized poster.

 "Last Chapter" Book Sale is Fast Approaching! (posted April 17)

From May 4th to 6th, Peace Library System (PLS) will be holding a gigantic book sale at the D Company Armouries at 9005 – 101 Street in Grande Prairie, with all proceeds going towards the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library. There are no set prices for the books, instead you are asked to pay by donation.

The sale runs Friday, May 4, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, Saturday, May 5, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Sunday, May 6, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Please bring your own bags or boxes, if possible.

Peace Library System wishes to thank the D Company Armouries Foundation for generously donating the use of their facility.

Excellence in Library Service Awards: Call for Nominations (posted March 28)

Peace Library System is calling for submissions for the 18th annual Excellence in Library Service Awards (formerly known as the Excellence in Librarianship Awards). The awards are designed to recognize Peace area library staff for outstanding service in school and public libraries. The Excellence in Library Service Awards are available only to library staff working for libraries that are members of Peace Library System.
