Electronic Resources

The following electronic resources are available to TRAC card holders at Peace Library System member libraries.

To access the eResources below, you may need to have your library card barcode number (or TRACpac username) and your PIN (usually the last four digits of your phone number). If you cannot remember your PIN, please contact your local library for assistance.

Auto and Small Engine Repair

Small Engine Repair Reference Centre -- Contains a variety of repair information information for ATVs, commercial mowers, farm tractors, generators, motorcycles, marine (boats), outdoor power equipment, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, and other small engines. Full text documents accompanied by photos and illustrations cover over 25 years of engine model.

Auto Repair Reference Centre -- Access repair information from major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, including: step-by-step instruction with photos and diagrams, service bulletins and recalls, specifications, and maintenance schedules. There are also educational videos, tips for care and repair, and troubleshooting.

Business and Career

Alberta Learning Information Service (ALIS) -- Career planning, information on occupations, planning and paying for you education, finding a job and more!

Business Source Elite -- Provides full text for more than 1,100 scholarly business journals, including 500 peer-reviewed business publications. Presents information dating back to 1985 and detailed company profiles for the world's 10,000 largest companies.

Government of Canada Job Bank -- Explore careers, read about the job market, and more.

Regional Business News -- Access full text articles from more than 80 US and Canadian business journals, newspapers, and newswires.

Cypress Resume -- Create custom resumes for today's job market. 

eBooks and Downloadable Audiobooks

OverDrive -- Offers downloadable eBooks and audiobooks. Patrons log in with their library barcode and PIN and are able to check out and download up to ten titles.               

3M Cloud Library -- Offers downloadable eBooks and audiobooks. Patrons log in with their library barcode and PIN. Titles can be checked out to one patron at a time, holds can be placed by patrons.

Hoopla -- Offers downloadable audiobooks, music, and movies. Patrons create an account to access this service. 

Tumblebooks -- Offers animated eBooks for kids.

Encyclopedias and Resources

World Book Online Portal Page -- The portal provides connections to the World Book services, including Early World of Learning, World Book Kids for younger users and teaching resources, Info Finder for adults and students, and Reference Centre for advanced researchers and information seekers.

Canadian Dictionary of Biography -- A searchable online collection of approximately 8,500 detailed biographies of noteworthy Canadians.

Canadian Financial Literacy Database -- Your one-stop shop to find information on budgeting and money management, insurance, saving and investing, taxes and fraud prevention, and so much more.

My Money Coach -- Learn how save money and make smart financial choices with this free Canadian resource.

Money Mentors -- Visit the Learning Centre for forms and tools that will help enhance your financial skills and knowledge.


Ancestry Library Edition -- Access to over 60 million Canadian records, including birth, marriage, and death records,census records, military records, immigration and naturalization records and more. Only available for in-library use.

Early Canadiana Online -- This virtual library holds the most complete set of full-text historical content about Canada, including books, magazines and government documents.

Library and Archives Canada -- Library and Archives Canada’s (LAC) collection is the shared documentary heritage of all Canadians and spans the entire history of our country. The collection contains materials in all types of formats from across Canada and around the world that are of interest to Canadians.

Grant Connect -- Access to a database of Canadian grants and funding sources.

Health and Wellness

ALT Health Watch -- Full text information on alternate, holistic, and integrated approaches to healthcare and wellness. Includes peer-reviewed journals, hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research, and book excerpts.

Family Behaviour Toolbox -- The Family Behaviour Toolbox is designed to be a self-help resource for parents and family members to understand the behaviour they are encountering and the options available to deal with it. Provided by Alberta
Health Services.

Health Source: Consumer Edition -- This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including medical sciences, food services and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine, and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines.

Family Doctor -- This site is operated by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and contains information about diseases and conditions, prevention and wellness, and more.

John Hopkins Medicine Library -- Guide to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions from A to Z.

Medline Plus -- Health information from the National Library of Medicine in the United States. Easy access to Medline and health topics, medical dictionaries, directories and publications.

My Health Alberta -- Government of Alberta initiative to provide health and wellness information through various articles, a symptom tracker, and more.


Mango - Language Learning Software -- Before you go, Mango. Mango is a language learning program teaching practical conversation and cultural awareness for the world’s most popular languages. It’s so fast and easy, you’ll be able to have a real conversation in your new language in just minutes!


LegalAve -- LegalAve brings together existing public legal information from across Alberta. It offers in-depth information, and gives you a starting point to deal with your legal issues.

Law Central Alberta -- LawCentral Alberta is a portal or collection of links to law-related information and educational resources on justice and legal issues of interest to Albertans.

Laws for Landlords and Tenants in Alberta -- Learn about the laws that apply when renting a place to live in Alberta.

Oak Net: Older Adult Knowledge Network -- Information on Albertan and Canadian law to help protect the older adult.

Willow Net: Abuse and the law in Alberta -- Willownet provides legal information for Albertans experiencing violence in a relationship.

Alberta Law Libraries -- A provincial network of law libraries existing to provide research support and information services to the public and the legal community.

Canadian-Lawyers.ca -- Allows you to search for lawyers by geographic region, area of expertise, or specific names, as well as providing up-to-date and relevant legal information.

Canadian Legal Information Institute -- A virtual library of Canadian legal information.

The Canadian Legal Research and Writing Guide -- A legal research help page that focuses on strategy and effective use of primary and secondary sources in both print and electronic formats.


Novelist Plus K-8 -- This kid-friendly eResource contains book reviews and enhanced subject access for over 60,000 fiction titles aimed at the K-8 population.

Novelist Plus -- The most comprehensive reader's advisory tool available. Like an author? Find a read alike here! Looking for book club guides? Look no further! Book reviews on over 150,000 fiction titles and over 4,000 custom created articles.

Canadian Reference Centre -- Access articles, editorials, features, biographies, photos, maps, and flags from leading Canadian magazines, newspapers, newswires, and reference books.

MasterFILE Premier -- Offers thousands of full text articles, book reviews, biographies, and information covering general reference, business, health, general science, and multicultural magazines. Also includes an Image Collection with photos, maps, and flags.

PressReader -- Access to 5000 newspapers from 100 countries in 60 languages!

Regional Business News -- Access full text from more than 80 US and Canadian business journals, newspapers, and newswires.

Zinio -- Zinio offers full color, interactive digital magazines for your enjoyment. Browse from your library's collection of popular titles with no holds, no checkout periods, and no limit to the number of magazines you can download. The first time you log in you will need to click on "Create new account" in the top left corner of the screen. It's free and you will need to have your library barcode handy to register.

Science Reference Centre - A comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full-text, science-oriented content. Teacher Reference Centre -- TRC provides indexing and abstracts for more than 260 periodicals. Online Reference Centre -- ORC is a collection of available resources for teachers.

Explora Canada -- A dedicated search interface for all our EBSCO databases with easy-to-browse categories to help students with their research.

Explora Educator's Edition -- Highlights content relevant to teachers, including lesson plans, curriculum standards and other professional development resources.

Explora Primary -- Designed specifically for elementary school students, Explora Primary provides access to articles and facts from magazines and reference books for research papers, class projects or homework.
